Work Boldly – Customer Portrait Series
Role: Art Direction & Illustration
For Adobe Workfront's Work Boldly campaign, I was commissioned to create a series of illustrated portraits featuring real enterprise customers—leaders driving operational transformation inside complex organizations.
Rather than defaulting to traditional corporate photography, I developed a visual system that elevated these customers into campaign icons.
The tension between control and expression became the core metaphor: structured systems enabling bold creativity.
The system allowed each portrait to feel individual while maintaining a cohesive campaign identity across web, keynote, social, and event environments.
Creative Direction
The concept centered on contrast:

     • Refined, grayscale realism to ground each subject in authenticity
     • Bold, expressive color fields inspired by Adobe's brand palette.
     • Visible brush texture and gestural mark-making to introduce movement and energy

The tension between control and expression became the metaphor: structured systems enabling bold creativity. 

Each portrait balances individuality with cohesion—allowing the series to scale across web, keynote, social, and live event environments while maintaining a strong, recognizable campaign identity.

Craft & Execution

The portraits combined live-brush textures, layered paint strokes, and digital pencil rendering to create tactile depth while preserving speed and flexibility for campaign deployment.
The result felt modern, expressive, and distinctly Adobe—transforming customer storytelling into hero-driven visual narratives.

Outcome
The series repositioned customer storytelling from testimonial support to hero-driven brand narratives.
Instead of documenting users of the product, the campaign celebrated them as creative leaders working boldly at scale.
